Asheville Rainy Mountain Wedding – Somer & Charlie

I don’t want to sound like every blogger ever — but this wedding really was beautiful from beginning to end. With COVID, we were worried that we might not be able to go through with it at all, and at the last second we got the green light. The day of, the forecast promised rain all day — at first we were worried about it, but the rain truly made the day (and the photos) even more magical than we thought they could be.

I have never met two people that were more meant for each other than Somer and Charlie. Their energy goes together so well, and they both exude such kindness. When we arrived, the rain was already starting, but Somer and her bridesmaids were in high spirits and having a great time together. I photographed some details, and once Somer was in her dress we got some bridal portraits. I truly love how they turned out, the rain only enhanced everything (even though I WAS standing in the rain and got absolutely soaked, it was 100% worth it):

While I was getting these shots, Christian was getting some shots of Charlie. Christian says that Charlie and him talked about life and love, and how marriage is one of the biggest things that can happen in a persons life, and how amazing it is to have all the people you love in one place to celebrate you. We got some shots of the boys all together, and finally we were ready for the first touch.

Somer was led by her dear friend to the first look location, where they shared such a sweet moment together (and I truly loved how the rain just made everything look like it was from a movie!)

Finally, it was time for the ceremony. It was such a sweet ceremony that tied together the earths elements with the idea of love, and I absolutely adored it. It was unique to them and you could really feel the loving energy between them.

After the ceremony, the wedding party and the couple went out on the patio for some portraits together and some family portraits, and then it was time for some first dances!

After the dances and once we sat down for some food, I noticed the rain let up and I told Somer we should go outside and get some shots while we can, and she completely trusted me and we went out for 10 minutes to get some shots of her and Charlie, as well as some wedding party photos. It started raining again quickly after, and I am so glad we were able to sneak away for that short time to grab these shots. SO WORTH IT!

Then it was time for first dance with dad and mom, and then everyone came together in a big circle to dance together. It was such a beautiful moment, and I was happy to have witnessed it and capture it.

It was party time next, and my favorite part of all: Somer, Charlie, and their friends went outside and partied in the rain. It felt so refreshing and freeing, and I love that they truly made their day be what they wanted it to be. I was in awe of their supporting friends and their commitment to have fun at all times, rain or shine!

Finally, it was time for their sparkler exit, which was so filled with joy and excitement that they went back and forth through the sparkler arch multiple times, haha! Truly a perfect ending to an absolutely perfect day. Somer and Charlie are the absolute best, and we can’t wait to see where life takes them! Congratulations to these two!
